MEET THE RESIDENTS OF NEW HOUSE
NERISSA PRATT
A few years ago, I fell out of love with sewing and in a bid to find a mindful and less involved craft, I discovered Bargello after a late night of scrolling through Pinterest. I was immediately struck by the bold patterns and colours and I knew I’d found my new crafty home. Fast-forward to now and although very much inspired by the retro variation of the craft, inspired myself by pattern and colour and I’m looking to bring this simple, mindful craft to a new audience of modern makers through a series of online workshops, kits and supplies.
JANE UPWARD
I am an intuitive semi abstract artist, expressing the elemental spaces I interact with through mixed paint media. I am also studying art therapy and shamanism. To be part of a new creative community is exciting, the energy of which feels expansive, enabling and collaborative. The central Guildford location offers access to potential workshop attendees, whilst being next to the River Wey feeds my need for nature and open water.
CATHERINE GUEST
I’m a mixed media artist and also a mature student at The University of the Creative Arts. My current work focusses on people and place. I’m working with Gouache and acrylic on paper or board. I’m very much a people person and have been looking for a space to work with or around other artists and creatives. I didn’t think I was going to find my ‘ideal space’ until I visited New House. I can’t wait to move into my new space and start creating new work as part of a community.
WILL FREEMAN
I’m a filmmaker and photographer who works under my own name as a director, coach and writer, and under Whizz Productions for all my commercial, corporate and promotional work. The opportunity to help form part of an artistic community was too good an offer to turn down. The location is perfect, and with London only 40 minutes away there is hope that the Davies Gilder Gallery could become quite the destination.
CHARLOTTE CORDEN
I am an illustrator and artist, with a longing to depict the good, true, and beautiful elements of life that I see in the world around me. I have a background in anthropology, which naturally centres my work on the careful study of the places and cultures. Day to day, I create both digital illustrations and oil paintings. I do children’s books, illustrations for editorials and magazines, and have been known to dabble in a bit of animation. I recently had a book published called Light in Dark Times.
TIM WALLER
I am an art handler with a background in fine art and interior design. I have been installing artwork for galleries, artists, auctioneers, private collectors and interior designers for over 15 years. I offer an art installation and curation service throughout the south of England. Alongside picture hanging I am also a picture framer. I help with the sourcing of art and advise on the mounting and framing. With a wide range of mouldings and framing solutions to meet your specifications I can frame your artwork from an inexpensive poster to an original canvas.
