Farnham Beerex 2019 / April 11 – 13 / Farnham Maltings
Farnham Beerex is the longest-running beer festival in the country held at the same location since it started in 1977. Organised by the Farnham Lions Club in cooperation with both the Farnham Maltings and CAMRA, this event – their 43rd – is the charity’s major annual fun and fundraising event. Staffed by well over 300 volunteers, all proceeds go to charity. Over 5000 imbibers attend every year to sample the finest ales, ciders and perries, gorge on BBQ food and hear great live bands. The entry ticket also entitles the holder to the entertainment, a commemorative glass and a programme.

Set in marquees on the lawns, with the racecourse as the spectacular backdrop to this event, you can enjoy browsing, sampling and buying from a mouthwatering selection of stallholders and exhibitors. Be inspired by chef demos from the likes of cookery supremo and national treasure Sophie Grigson, with chef/compere Ondine Hartgroves (Masterchef), Ian Cumming (BBC Bake-Off Finalist) on Saturday and Saira Hamilton (Masterchef Finalist) launching her brand new cookery book on Sunday. .

Hot Sauce Society festival / April 13 / Copeland Park, London
Bringing some early heat to spring, the Hot Sauce Society boasts a whole day of activities themed around this delicious condiment. More than 30 independent hot sauce producers from around the UK will showcase their products, offering samples of sauces, chutneys and chilli jams. Learn about the makers, and what goes into their hot sauce. Expect hot sauce-inspired games and craft workshops, which include beer pong, with lots of saucy prizes. Further food will come from kebab specialists Babek Brothers and street food experts Lord of The Wings, and to cool off bars will serve local craft beer, rum cocktails and more. A line-up of DJs will provide the music and there will also be Chilli Karaoke.
