WHO’S YOUR FAVOURITE PANTOMIME CHARACTER (EVER) AND WHY?
Crumbs, I have a great affection for them all! The warmth and positivity of Buttons is so wonderful and the magical connection the Fairy Godmothers (in all pantos) share with the audience is really special. I also have very fond memories of playing a French Poodle in Beauty and the Beast which I think is pretty much a one-off!
ASIDE FROM PANTO AND WHEN YOU’RE NOT IN PANTO, WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO AT CHRISTMAS?
At Guildford Shakespeare Company we have an incredibly busy year, so I really enjoy this moment of the year when things slow right down (though obviously not this year!!). I love making homemade mince pies and mulled wine; carol singing; visiting the local pub and spending time with our family.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING TO DO IN SURREY AT CHRISTMAS?
We love visiting places like Polesdon Lacey and West Horsley Place that decorate the houses and gardens and run special events – wrap up warm and go for a ramble!
WHAT’S ON CHRISTMAS WISH LIST THIS YEAR? / WHAT ARE YOU HOPING FOR IN YOUR STOCKING?
Over the last few years I’ve discovered a love of bird watching, so maybe an RSPB membership? …and of course the best chocolate in the world, a Toblerone!
Yvonne Arnaud’s sparkling, award-winning pantomimes are made and rehearsed, in house at the theatre. Written, directed, designed and staged by their team, you can be sure of a thoroughly original production for all the family every time. Their recent pantomime Dick Wittington won them Best Ensemble in the UK Pantomime Awards. Cinderella will be the Yvonne Arnaud’s fourth pantomime directed by the theatre’s Chief Executive and Director Joanna Read.
